Post Office Field Trip!
What a fun and interesting trip to the Frederick Post Office! I think the most exciting part was mailing their letters to eachother! Even Carston got a turn. (He mailed Ella's letter for her-with a little help from Trisha!)
Preschool Post Office!
After learning about mail carriers and the process of mailing a letter, we played post office! First, the girls addressed packages and stamped letters to funny characters. They mailed them in our own post office mailbox and then sorted them into the correct box (according to last name). Each girl had their own little town neighborhood of alphabetical letters that they were in charge of delivering their mail to. They took their jobs very seriously. They couldn't wait for the field trip!

Trisha's Birthday Celebration!
My Trisha Kate turned 5! I had to post these Halloween pics of Trish and Peyton when they were just beginning! Don't they look so cute?! So fun that Peyton and Trisha have grown up together.
January: Africa Week
(Sorry, this is out of order. I forgot to post this in January and can't figure out how to get it back there. I'm such a blogger newbie!) The girls partculary enjoyed the music of Africa! When I asked them later what activity they most enjoyed from our Cultural Appreciation month, a lot of them mentioned this activity. Here, they are participating in an African Drum Circle! They each took turns dancing in the middle of the circle.
Snow Fun
We pretended it was snowing outside for our snow day. (You can never predict CO snow!) The girls enjoyed making some pretty snowflakes using painter's tape and listening to a CD story about a town who became covered in snow. We sang some songs too. During center time, the girls used a fun manipulative ABC wood set that I borrowed from a wonderful kindergarten friend. They built many letters with the shapes and some words too!
Super Cute Moment of the Day: Ella's mom, Rachel, was busy (understatement) in labor at the hospital that day. Ella named her 2 snowflakes in her painting Ella (the bigger snowflake) and Baby Claire (the smaller snowflake). Awww!!!
Welcome back Brenna! She'll be with us on some Tuesdays for the rest of the school year! The girls were so welcoming and helpful to her. This is such a friendly, kind-hearted group! They inspire me every day.
Happy Chinese New Year!
Chinese New Year perfectly landed on a preschool day this year! We learned about the Chinese Zodiac, our own chinese zodiac signs, and made/played Chinese Zodiac Memory. We also watched some traditional dragon dances on a DVD during snack and made our own dragons! Then the girls danced in their own Chinese New Year preschool parade, complete with lots of interesting dragon noises!
